"Like the previous years, this edition of Gitex too will serve as a perfect platform for several of Dubai's government departments to showcase their eService offerings under the Dubai eGovernment umbrella. In less than seven years after incorporation, Dubai eGovernment has been successful in accelerating Dubai's transformation to a digital society, in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai."
"We look forward to another highly fruitful edition of Gitex as we work closely with other government entities in Dubai to take the emirate's eServices framework to a higher level of efficiency and excellence, with the overriding goal of creating a knowledge-based economy," he added.
The government entities that will join Dubai eGovernment at Gitex 2008 are Dubai Civil Aviation, Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Land Department, Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, Dubai Economic Department, Roads and Transport Authority, Tanmia, Dubai Public Prosecution, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Department of Health and Medical Services, Dubai Police, Dubai Courts, Dubai Customs, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, Protocol and Guest House Department, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Dubai Statistics, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Government Workshop, Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Est., H.H. Ruler's Court, Zakat Fund, Ministry of Public Works & The Ministry of Environment and Water.
Dubai eGovernment, along with the different government departments and ministries, will promote at Gitex its range of eServices as well as its synergistic services such as the ePay solution, AskDubai, mDubai, and eLearn. The exhibition will include a network of workstations that offer real simulation of all eServices provided through Dubai eGovernment's portal www.dubai.ae.
Originally launched as a payment solution for government and semi-government departments, ePay was later extended to the private sector, providing an easy, cash-less payment solution to a whole range of purchases. AskDubai is a unified, bilingual contact centre for comments, inquiries, complaints and feedback on government departments, while mDubai is a mobile channel used for communication between customers and government departments via SMS.
Finally, eLearn is a learning and training portal of Dubai eGovernment that offers more than 3,000 bilingual Arabic and English online training courses.
