Social Responsibility Fund selects du as "Official Telecom Partner"

Continuing with its corporate social responsibility efforts, du, the integrated telecom operator in the UAE recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Social Responsibility Fund in support of the 'Dirham W Bas' (One Dirham Only) campaign, and has been selected as the Official Telecom Partner for the fund.

The MoU was signed in the presence of her Excellency Maryam Al Roumi, the UAE Minister of Social Affairs by Osman Sultan, CEO, du and Abdulaziz Al Hinai, General Manager of the Social Responsibility Fund, Ministry of Social Affairs. The campaign started with a token contribution to the initiative by du employees.

'Dirham w bas' is the first campaign undertaken by the Social responsibility Fund and du will continue to support the Fund for a period of three years beginning October 2008. du will be allocating 23 coin collection boxes in its office buildings and all du retail shops across the UAE.

Reiterating the power of public participation, Osman Sultan, CEO, du, said:
"We are proud to launch this campaign with the help of our biggest asset - our employees. We seek whole-hearted participation from the public as we hope to support the sustainable development efforts of the social responsibility fund. We are proud of our strong ties with the UAE Social Responsibility Fund and will continue to support them as they work towards a better future for all."


Echoing the sentiment, Abdulaziz Al Hinai, General Manager of Social Responsibility Fund, Ministry of Social Affairs, said:
"It is vital to contribute to the society that we live in and we are thankful to du for partnering with us and strengthening our efforts. The response to the campaign has been very encouraging and we are sure it will be a big success. We will be announcing many more such socially empowering initiatives in the future. The Social responsibility fund continues to strengthen ties and bridge the gap between the public and private sectors."
