Scholarships worth over Dhs750,000 on offer at EDUKEX 2008

UK insititutions participating in EDUKEX 2008, the British Council's annual Education UK Exhibition (EDUKEX) being held in the UAE from 19-21 October, will collectively offer more than 50 scholarships, worth over Dhs750,000, to students visiting the show.

EDUKEX 2008 will showcase courses and scholarships from more than 50 UK
universities and colleges, including some programmes on offer both in
the UK and in the UAE.

Students and parents can talk directly to some of
the foremost institutions from the UK and learn more about course content and selection, entry requirements, tuition and living costs, accommodation options and extra curricular activities, as well as advice on living in the UK and applying for a visa. Entry to EDUKEX is free of charge to all visitors.

Alison Devine, British Council Regional Manager Education UK Middle East, explains: "Scholarships are an important means of encouraging and supporting students in their studies and EDUKEX 2008 has over 50 scholarships on offer for international students, and some focused specifically on students in the region and UAE. These cover everything from Bachelor and Masters degrees to MBAs and are generally merit-based, providing attractive financial support right up to full scholarships covering all tuition fees.

Thousands of scholarships and bursaries are
offered to international students every year by UK institutions and the UK government also provides scholarship funding to more than 21,000
international students annually.
