Samsung's newly-released Crystal Design maximises the natural colour effects of materials through product design instead of using artificial colours. This allows for the generation of different colours and appearance depending on viewing angles and times. Three colour monitors - rose black, emerald black and sapphire black - are scheduled to be released, giving users the best product for their surrounding interior.

Madhav Narayan, General Manager of the IT Division at Samsung Electronics, said:

'These are the first ever Crystal Design products released by Samsung in this region and we expect they will make a big splash among design and performance-conscious consumers at Gitex this year.'

'With the recently launched Crystal Design Series, Samsung Electronics has dramatically reduced LCD monitors' power consumption by altering backlight driving type from Direct type to Edge type. By reducing the number of backlight lamps, you can save 50 per cent more power,' added Narayan.

These models do not just reduce the burden of high electricity costs but are environmentally friendly products. The T240 boasts the world's lowest standby power of 0.3 Watts while T260HD reduces power consumption by more than 30 Watts during operation compared to existing models.

T240, a 24-inch monitor boasts the highest performance with 20000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 5 ms response time. It maximised the convenience in connecting with other equipment by using various input terminals such as HDMI and USB 2.0.

T260HD, a 25.5-inch full HD monitor, features an embedded DTV tuner so that users can watch digital HD broadcasts without a special receiving set. With six image input terminals, users can connect several pieces of digital equipment to the T260HD and use them simultaneously. In addition, by employing the solution of SRS TruSurround XT to improve sound, it provides the optimal condition to enjoy a variety of multimedia.

General monitor, 19/20/22/24/25.5-inch Crystal Design models and TV monitor, 20/22/24/25.5-inch Crystal Design models are scheduled to be released this year.
