The event will take place in the Career Resource Centre and features a number of services to help students make informed career decisions.

The focus of the event is to introduce students to the services of the Career Development and Employer Relations team, which provides information, advice and guidance on career planning, occupational choices, potential employers, and the job search process. Over 800 students and graduates for this year's event have registered their interest in part-time and summer work.

Each day of "Careers Week," employers will be on the ADWC campus to meet with students and discuss potential career options. This event gives various employers each day the chance to hold a booth in a strategic, high traffic area in order to have access to as many students as possible. Companies taking part in this semester's event include Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, British Council, ALDAR, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, First Gulf Bank, Emirates Real Estate Company, and CARREFOUR.

"The response by employers to attend this event and interact with our students on a more informal basis has been tremendous," said Jane Tatterton, ADWC's Career Development and Employment Coordinator. "Last year, all of the employers were impressed at how focused and determined our students were in developing their work skills, and each employer took CVs from students to review for further consideration. Obviously, the word has spread."

In addition to having direct access to potential employers, students also get the opportunity to have their CVs checked by a Career Advisor. Students will receive one-on-one advice on how to present professional CVs, as well as tips on interviewing skills.

"We can already see an increase in the use and awareness of the Career Centre," said Ms. Tatterton. "We want to make sure students are given the advice and guidance they need to help them in their career development."
