Qatar's Vision 2030 to be launched at an international seminar in Doha

Qatar's National Vision (QNV) 2030 will be officially launched by HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani on 28 October at an international seminar.

• Qatar National Vision 2030 will be officially launched at a high level international seminar at the end of October
• HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will officiate the event
• The event will also kick-off the process of preparing Qatar's First National Strategy

The seminar will have two main purposes: it marks the official launch of Qatar's National Vision and it will kick-off the process of preparing Qatar's first National Strategy.

Participants will examine the relevance of international experiences of national strategy formulation and execution and their applicability to Qatar's circumstances.

The seminar is organized by the General Secretariat for Development Planning (GSDP), which is responsible for coordinating the QNV process.

GSDP will work in multiple partnerships to achieve the development goals of the Vision for the benefit of the nation.

The formulation of the National Strategy will be a fully participatory process engaging the public, private and civil society sectors. The First National Strategy is expected to be launched in 2010.

"Qatar will need to develop and tailor its own strategy, but it's important to listen to others. We hope to understand why some approaches are more successful than others and what might suit Qatar", Dr. Ibrahim Ibrahim, Secretary General of GSDP says.

The two-day seminar will target more than two hundred high level national participants from ministries, agencies, private and civil sector organizations. There will also be senior level experts from GCC countries, Asia and from multilateral agencies including the World Bank and the United Nations.
