"Green Life Protocol" signed

An environmental pledge for preservation and sustainability titled 'Green Life Protocol' was signed by UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), International Association for Human Values (IAHV) and global digital leader LG Electronics at the end of a one-day conference dedicated to green initiatives.
The high-profile summit, which sought to find possible solutions to some of the most pressing environment problems such as global warming and determine how to implement the solutions, was held at the Safina Ballroom in Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai and brought together government agencies, international and regional private sector companies, environment experts and members of the media from across the region.
The protocol was signed towards the end of the programme by Dr. Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water, Ivano Lannelli of United Nations Office for Project Services, a representative of International Association for Human Values and Mr. K. W. Kim, CEO of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa Regional Company.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water who delivered the opening keynote address, followed by speeches delivered by UNOPS Climate Change Manager Marcel Alers, UNOPS Carbon Methodology expert Matt Spannagle and LG's Vice President Eco-Strategy Team Dr. Jong Min Shin.
The conference assessed the challenges facing all industries in maintaining a green environment.
Experts, representing government, environment and private sector companies, put the focus on environment issues including green building guidelines, corporate sustainability management.
Also shown were successful case studies in environment management undertaken by international and global companies.
Speakers at the event represented diverse organisations and private sector entities including Gulf Research Centre, Sustainability Excellence Arabia, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Gulf News, Ecoventures, Daimler and Hyatt Hotels Group.
