Customers can also follow up on the processing of their transactions through self-service kiosks that will be set in various locations to simplify procedures and provide convenient services for customers.
The kiosk allows customers to perform a variety of operations without the need to visit DNRD's counters including applying for and enquiring about visa status as well as printing your own residence visa and other types of visas.
Nationals will also have the facility to renew their passports instantly through this system.
Mobile visa service "M-Visa" is also introduced at the exhibition. Upon issuance of entry visa permits (all types included), customers receive instant notifications via email and text messages in a form of a barcode. Upon arrival at any of UAE entry points through Dubai, the barcode scanner set up at the DNRD checkpoints will read the details of the entry permit directly off the mobile devices of the visitors.
According to Major General Al Marri, Director of DNRD: "Gitex is an excellent platform to showcase our groundbreaking initiatives and create awareness among all residents about the numerous benefits of our latest automated services that will cut down on waiting times and offer our customers first class services with more options and features. This participation fulfills our commitment towards knowledge-based economy, in line with the strategic plan of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai."
DNRD's pavilion, which is located at B2-A hall 8, includes a network of workstations that offer real simulation of all its services for the visitors to learn and try first hand the newly introduced services, in addition to conducting on-site daily competitions focusing on the latest DNRD services. Winners will receive valuable prizes.
"Our pavilion at Gitex will offer visitors the opportunity to experience closely the new set of automated services that will be presented for the first time at the local, regional and global levels. We will also hold a number of presentations to explain the benefits of the new services and answer questions from visitors as well as announce the winners of the best website design,"
said Lt. Colonel Khaled Nasser Al-Razooqi, Assistant Director of IT Sector at DNRD.
During the last few years, DNRD implemented a number of e-services including the e-Gate which ensures speedy passenger entry and exit through passport control and online service, a service that eliminated the need for transactions at the visa counters. During Gitex, visitors of the DNRD stand will be offered a discounted fee of 50% when acquiring their e-Gate pass.
