Unilever launches behavior safety training program

In keeping with its commitment to providing the highest standard of employee safety, both at work as well as out of the office, Unilever Arabia, one of the regions largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies, announced the launch of its behavior safety training program using the Du Pont Behavior Safety Model.

The training will cover Road and Occupational safety. Tim Drury, VP Supply Chain, Unilever North Africa and Middle East, said:

"Employee safety is our number one priority. The aim of this training is to upgrade employee skills and awareness regarding health and safety so as to embed it as a mind-set and work ethos."


The Behavior Safety Training will cover all Unilever Arabia managers and supervisors.

Recognizing the increased importance of training in Road Safety, Unilever Arabia will provide defensive driving training to all its employees.

This is in conjunction to a well established safe travel policy that covers the condition of company vehicles; vehicle check list and driving behavior observations and guidance.

In addition, occupational safety training, that covers shop floor employees at all Unilever UAE factory sites, is also being provided. This training will provide employee's with the tools to identify hazards through risk assessment studies, eliminate hazards through continuous improvement plans and share behavioral safety observations.

Progress in the employee safety mind-set and behavior will also be monitored through identified key performance indicators.

To reinforce safe behavior, a rewards and recognition system has been set in place along side a safety disciplinary matrix to address repeated non-conformance to unsafe behavior. A safety committee located at each Unilever site, within UAE, will monitor the progress on the Safety performance of the site and drive the continuous improvement of safety performance
