Dubai flavour to Touchmate laptops

Tacky or creative, the latest Touchmate will divide opinions, but it does gives buyers the opportunity to customise their laptop. While vendors have long offered purchasers the chance to add photos to their laptop's lid, Touchmate is giving them a localised feel using Swarovski Crystals.

Buyers can choose their own design, but on show at Gitex were laptops with images of Palm Jumeirah and the Burj Al Arab. Each crystal in the pattern costs Dhs3.

The lightweight 10.2 inch widescreen MiniAtom (with the Palm image) runs the Intel Atom CPU and comes with an in-built DVD writer, a webcam and choice of hard disk size and battery size.

The 12.1 inch Mini Wonder Notebook runs an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, giving it plenty of power, and includes an in-built DVD Writer, built-in webcam and a fingerprint reader.
