Zain expects 30% rise in profit in 2009

The CEO of Zain, the Kuwaiti phone company with operations in 22 Middle Eastern and African countries, said he expects his company to see a 30% rise in profit next year, reported Bloomberg. Saad al-Barrak said the financial crisis has created many opportunities to own assets at 'very low prices'. The company seeks to be the largest telecommunications operator in the Middle East and Africa, a title currently held by Orascom.
