RTA e-Services attract visitors of Gitex 2008

The payment of parking fees through the mobile phone service, besides a package of e-services covering traffic and roads systems offered by the Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) in Gitex 2008, attracted huge numbers of roads and parking users the day before yesterday.

Visitors hailed the initiative which was unveiled by the RTA in Gitex, which runs up to 23 October.

The package of services offered by Traffic & Roads Agency, as well as other RTA agencies; include a range of sophisticated services, some of which are offered for the first time. The participation aims to realize the mission of the RTA in providing integrated road systems as part of an effort to bring about a smooth, safe and sustained transport system, compatible with the highest international standards.

Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, said that systems offered by the Agency in Gitex target the general public as well as motorists and road users. These systems are in line with the development witnessed by Dubai in all fields, including electronic advancement, as RTA is well aware of the opportunity involved with this unique annual event as a platform to showcase its services.

Maitha bin Adai,said:
"Among services on offer at Gitex is the Payment of Parking Using Mobile Phones Service (mParking). This service enables users to send SMS from their mobile phones to the designated service number. The service, which is currently being tested in coordination with the UAE-based telecommunication providers, will be gradually introduced over the next months. RTA is also offering Salik e-services; where a number of online services are offered through Salik portal, such as balance query, detailed movement of registered vehicles through toll gates, account top-up using e-payment, and payment of fines online."


"As RTA is keen on expanding the range of services offered through Traffic & Roads Agency, more e-services will be announced to customers such as Parking, Right of Way, and Traffic and Roads. Such services offer users the convenience of having their transactions processed through RTA portal," she added

Maitha bin Adai,the CEO of Traffic & Roads Agency, said:
"Beside the sophisticated services and programmes offered, RTA also makes a series of presentations including the state-of-the-art intelligent traffic systems and other electronic events. These include Salik system, intelligent traffic systems, mobile parking, in addition to other presentations and initiatives for the public and road users. Visitors of RTA Stand at Gitex will be able to attend these events daily from 11.00 am up to 05.00 pm. The overall objective is to materialize the vision of the RTA to provide safe and smooth transport for all."
