Food & Beverages Manufacturing Group elects representative panel

Representatives of Dubai's food and beverage manufacturing businesses, met yesterday at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry to elect a representative committee.

This meeting is the first group meeting after its inception back in October by DCCI as part of its new business strategy.

The business group members took part in the election process which involved the election of a twelve-man committee. The committee was elected anonymously from nominations submitted earlier by the members after the formation of their new business group.

Yesterday's meeting was headed by Mr. Ahmed Al Banna, Assistant Director General for Studies and International Affairs at DCCI.

Mr. Al Banna said: " As we actively enter phase two of the Dubai business group programme, I believe we will be seeing various business groups and sectors operating in a much more independent way and taking major steps towards charting their own agendas with the support and guidance of DCCI."

Elected to sit on the representative committee of the Food & Beverage Manufacturing Business Group are: Ahmed Hassan Bin Al Shaikh, Managing director of Hassan Bin Shaikh Food Industries, K. Sehuraman, Managing director of Gulf Seafood LLC, Dr. Rashid Dafalla, General Manager of

Emirates Modern Poultry Co., Khalid Farooq, General Manager of Saigol & Gulf Ltd Co. LLC, Khalid Abdulla Al Shirawi, Executive Director of Pastalini Food Processing Industries, Abdul Wahid Ali Khan Momin, Director of Momin Oil Industry, David Rushton, General Manager of Freshly Frozen Foods LLC, Roland Klein, Managing Director of Rudolf Wild Gmbh &Co., Bokary Syed Sardar, General Manager of Gulf & Safa Dairies Co., V. Krishnan, CEO, Strategic Food International Co. LLC, Pawan Khanna, Managing Partner of Rich Rice Raisers Factory LLC and P. Kanchan, Managing Director of Al Fustq Food Stuff Factory.

Representative Committee member, Khalid Al Shirawi, Executive Director, Pastalini Food Processing Industries believes that this initiative will have a positive impact on the sector as a whole.

As a committee member, Al Shirawi hopes to encourage and promote local food industries and support nationalisation efforts aiming at creating more employment opportunities for UAE nationals.

A total of seven new Dubai-based business groups were set up in October and November. The new groups represent the foodstuffs trading sector, land transport sector, pharmaceuticals and health equipments trading, building materials trading and manufacturing, printing and publishing , exhibitions and conventions, as well as food and beverages manufacturing.
