Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment aids the Dubai Higher Colleges of Technology

The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment presented today a check of Dhs1.2m to the Dubai Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in support of financial aid students' laptops.

The Establishment is providing the Colleges with this aid for the sixth year in order to allow all students to have equal opportunities to using top-quality technology.

The check was presented to Dubai Women's College (DWC) and Dubai Men's College (DMC) during a press conference held at DWC and attended by His Excellency Ibrahim Bu Melha, General Manager at the Establishment, Dr. Bob Richards, Senior Director at the HCT and Director of DMC, and Dr. Behjat Al Yousuf, DWC Associate Director.

This year's aid benefited a total of 88 students at DWC and 102 students at DMC who are now able to use laptops during their studies at the Colleges.

"The aid is an initiative that aligns with our strategic priorities to encourage further development of our own National talents. It is highly significant to provide all students with the opportunity to have access to technology required for their educational, professional, and career growth. We continue to support needy students so they can join the National workforce that is to participate in the fast development of the country."
said H.E. Ibrahim Bu Melha.

During the presentation, DWC and DMC students demonstrated how the laptops aid them in the learning process.

They presented a live demonstration of a class using the laptops as a learning and communication tool to deliver the curriculum.

Every year, the Establishment coordinates with the two Colleges the process of reviewing students' application to decide on their eligibility for the program and the number of students benefiting from the program.

"The annual contribution from the Establishment has been adding much value to the learning process of the students as it allows them to continue their education with less financial obstacles, therefore, adding value to the quality of the National graduates who join the workforce every year."
noted Dr. Bob Richards.

At both Colleges, it is a requirements all students use laptops which enables them to practice a project-based learning environment throughout their study years.

"Several years ago, DWC led the way among the regional educational institutes by requiring its students to use laptops. The Establishment's contribution allows the College to focus its future efforts in continuously enhancing its on-campus technology being assured that all students get to access such high-quality technology."
said Dr. Al Yousuf.
