Dubai Camel Club recently signed an agreement with Softest, a Dubai-based software company, whereby the latter will develop an electronic system for automating processes and procedures related to managing camel races.
Following the MoU signed between Dubai eGovernment and Dubai Camel Club, Dubai eGovernment will provide technical consultation to ensure the effective implementation of the new system at the club.
Salem Al Shair, eServices Director at Dubai eGovernment, said,
"We are pleased to support Dubai Camel Club in this major initiative that they have undertaken, which signifies a new chapter in the UAE's long history of camel racing. Electronic management of camel races will provide a major boost to this highly popular sport, and Dubai eGovernment is confident that our technical consultation and support will prove extremely valuable to Dubai Camel Club."
Commenting on the MoU, Hamad Ali Bin Markhan, General Manager, Dubai Camel Club, said, "This first-of-a-kind initiative in the world is a major milestone for Dubai Camel Club, which we believe will result in significantly increasing the interest in camel racing, a sport that is integral to the UAE's culture. With the next racing season commencing in November, the launch of this initiative is perfectly timed and we look to leverage the expertise of Dubai eGovernment to ensure the effective implementation of the new system."
Dubai eGovernment is participating in GITEX Technology Week 2008 from its stand B8-1, Hall 8 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, along with 26 government departments and ministries.
