CBB Governor meets Banca della Svizzara Italiana

Mr. Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, met today a high level team from 'Banca della Svizzara Italiana,' (BSI) a major Swiss Private Banking group granted a license by the CBB on 24 June 2008.

The BSI team was led by Mr. M. Alfredo Gysi, Chairman of the Executive Board of BSI AG who is currently in Bahrain to oversee the setup of the Bahrain office which is due to begin its operations in January of 2009.

BSI AG's first presence in the Middle East region will be through their Bahrain office which will represent a "regional hub" for the Gulf Area.

Mr. Al Maraj welcomed Mr. Gysi to Bahrain and briefed him about the role of the CBB and its commitment to advance the growth of Bahrain's financial sector, a key segment of the national economy.

On the other hand Mr. Gysi talked about his plans to further explore investment opportunities in Bahrain and in the region.

Also present at the meeting were senior officials from the CBB. Mr. M. Alfredo Gysi was accompanied by Mr. Saad Osseran, responsible for the Middle East private Banking desk at BSI Generali UK Ltd.
