Mr. Peter Hill, Oman Air's CEO will be heading a high-level delegation to the meetings. AACO, which was established in 1965 within the framework of the Arab League of States, aims at promoting cooperation among Arab airlines and serve their common interest through service excellence. An important event for the airline industry, AACO AGM is attended by Arab and International air transport industry leaders. The official opening ceremony of the AGM will be held on the night of 21 October 2008 at "Kobbat Al Nohas", an old seat of the Bey of Tunis. The ceremony will see a Senior Government Official addressing the audience, in addition to AACO President, Mr. Nabil Chettaoui, and AACO Secretary General, Mr. Abdul Wahab Teffaha.

The event which will be concluded on the 23rd of October will be punctuated with meetings, working session, discussions and joint sessions, addressing some of the crucial issues impacting the industry. In the past AACO has been instrumental in arriving at many joint decisions and action plans that have been beneficial to the member airlines. One such initiative of AACO which Oman Air was also a joint project member in was the Fuel Purchasing Programme.

Peter Hill, Oman Air's CEO gave notice that AACO member airlines will have a closed session to decide on several strategic, financial and administrative issues, AACO secretariat general work and the joint issues related to member airlines. Hill said that one of the important highlight of this year's event is the Discussion Panel which will have industry dignitaries and experts taking part and referred to as the 'Joint Aviation Forum' under the theme: "An Expanded Role of Arab Aviation: Challenges and Opportunities".

he added

Like in the previous year, the Assembly will also receive a speech by Mr. Giovanni Bisignani, Director General, and CEO of IATA, who will present the keynote address. Oman Air, which is an active member of AACO, takes a very proactive role in the various crucial discussions held as part of the AGM. This year's AACO meeting will pay special tributes to the late Ziad Al Haremi, ex-CEO of Oman Air. It may be noted that the late, Ziad Bin Karim Al Haremi who headed Oman Air's delegation to AACO's 40th AGM, was elected as a member of AACO's Executive Committee.
