The M-Visa project details are on display at Gitex on 19-23 October 2008.

This service is available to customers who go through the online application process and who utilize the technology.

There they will be requested to make the relevant payment to enable them to receive their visa via email or text message and then it is only a scan away, replacing paper mandated visas.

When a visa is issued, customers will be notified through an email and SMS message. The email includes an original visa document (PDF format) bearing DNRD logo and the signature of the Director.

The PDF will be secure to avoid any tampering with the details of the visitor.

The SMS notification encloses the same barcode printed on the original visa document in a 2D format, as well as key indicators about the visitor and the designated sponsor.

The SMS can be sent to any destination around the world and the UAE-based sponsor will also receive the same notifications.

Upon arrival at to any of UAE entry points, the barcode scanner set up at the DNRD check points will read the details of the entry permit directly off the mobile devices of the visitors to make their entry into the country easy and quick.

According to Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of DNRD: "The use of M-Visa facilities is convenient, secure, easy, and will reduce wait time. It is very important for us to increase our customers' satisfaction and travel experience in the UAE."

Customers will have the chance to track their applications online and request emails and text messages to be resent or saved according to their convenience.

The DNRD will begin this innovative service starting January 2009 at Dubai entry points.
