  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, October 22 - 2008 at 11:02
  • PRESS RELEASE

Tabreed's expertise in providing district cooling solutions throughout the Middle East was presented at a conference examining how to best implement essential infrastructure into sustainable cities.

The Middle East's largest district cooling provider was a Sustaining Sponsor of the third International District Cooling Conference organised by the International District Energy Association (IDEA) at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City from October 19 to 21. Tabreed's senior managements from the UAE and its subsidiaries across the region attended as speakers, panellists, delegates and exhibitors at the three-day conference.

Khaled Salmeen Al Kawari, Chief Operating Officer, Tabreed, said:
"The massive real estate development that is occurring across this region has placed immense demands on energy and water resources. IDEA's conference is a great forum for leaders in district cooling technology to come together and discuss how, as an industry, we can achieve maximum efficiencies in energy and water usage in urban development."

Dany Safi, board member and advisor to the Board of Tabreed joined other recognised industry leaders in the 'IDEA Leadership Panel' and discussed how district energy systems can deliver increased energy efficiency; reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance water conservation and contribute to more sustainable end-user communities.

Tabreed has also made significant contributions based on its decade of experience to IDEA's 'District Cooling Best Practice Guide' which provided practical advice to district cooling industry professionals. The guide was launched as part of the conference programme and several members of Tabreed's team managed conference workshops based on the technical guide's contents. The workshops covered topics including the design and build of energy transfer stations, business development, design process and key design issues surrounding district cooling plants.

Tabreed's expertise in providing best practices in cooling plants was also demonstrated to energy systems professionals from around the world when a tour of Tabreed's Dubai Plant Room was hosted on the first day of the conference.

"Tabreed has been a pioneer in the development and provision of energy efficient district cooling technology for many years. We are looking forward to sharing our knowledge with other industry members and contributing to the industry's push towards achieving sustainable communities," Al Kawari added.
