- PRESS RELEASE
Under the patronage of the Minister of Education, H.E. Dr. Tayseer Al-Nahar, and through the continuous support from the USAID, a Teachers and Trainers Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday 16th of October, at the Royal Cultural Center marking the end of the World Links Arab Region AED/USAID 2006-2008 Teachers' Professional Development Training Program.
This ceremony comes as an initiative to celebrate the achievements of the Program's graduates, reflecting the high level of support that the teachers, trainers and coordinators gave to their country, through the Public Educational System. World Links Arab Region wishes to express its appreciation to the real heros, the students, teachers, trainers, coordinators and most of all the donors in the form of direct USAID fund and Ministry contributions.
The World Links Teachers' Professional Development (TPD) Program, enters into the classroom as it trains teachers of various school subjects, to become facilitators and life-long learners, by gently and prudently changing their behavioral patterns, over two scholastic years. It trains teachers on how to effectively use advanced information & communications technologies (ICT) and gain new skills, such as critical thinking, problem solving, employing research techniques and working collaboratively within groups. The Teachers in turn pass over these new acquired skills and techniques to their students, who immediately gain these new skills and start producing advanced and online content.
Currently, World Links Arab Region is implementing its program in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, and will be expanding in five more countries as it aims to reach more than 10 millions Arab youth during the next few years.
