Furore at Gitex Shopper as crowds converge for last few days of special deals

For the second day running, scores of enthusiastic shoppers streamed into Dubai Airport Expo to get their hands on the latest consumer electronics and experience the action-packed Gitex Digital Game World.

The mega event, which is on until 24 October is bigger this year, and going by the response to the first three days seems Gitex Shopper is gaining popularity with every day. Over 25,000 products are on display, many of which are being unveiled for the first time in the region. Bargain hunters had a field day as well, with many retailers unveiling exciting promotions at the show.

"Judging by the shoppers' excitement and unrelenting enthusiasm, we are delighted that Gitex Shopper continues to draw a good fan base of customers", said Ms Trixee Loh, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions and Events Management, Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of the event.

The enthusiastic crowds left exhibitors at the show understandably pleased. "We believe Gitex Shopper is not only matching global standards but is also on its way to setting the benchmark for consumer electronic events globally. We have surpassed our previous year's figures in the first four days of the exhibition," said Mr. Shankar Iyer, COO, Emax. Mr. Iyer, concluded, "Our massive LCD Wall display has attracted much attention and resulted in impressive conversion to sale. We have grabbed a sale of almost 600 panels in the first four days of Gitex Shopper 2008".

The Gitex Digital Game World was the centre of attention, with gaming enthusiasts of all ages pouring into the dedicated eSport area for a piece of the action. Live gaming segments, competitions and die-hard action transformed the area into a gamers paradise, with the latest games flying off the shelves.

"It's a great idea to incorporate the Gitex Digital Game World into the show, as eSports lovers now have a whole new feature catering to them. As an eGamer I really enjoyed the show and was very impressed with the huge number of participants of different ages, playing in gaming area, " said Hisham Hassan, an Arab expatriate coming from Germany to participate in the Gitex Digital Game World Championship".

With two days still to go, it seems like Gitex Shopper 2008 is headed for a grandstand finish. If you happen to be someone for a penchant for consumer electronics or happen to be planning a purchase, there is no bigger and more exciting stage in town than Gitex Shopper 2008!

Gitex Shopper 2008 will be held at the Central, West and East Halls in Dubai Airport Expo from October 18 - 24, 2008 and will open its doors from 11:00AM to 10:00PM from October 18 - 23 and from 3:00PM to 10:00PM on October 24.

Off-site parking is available for exhibitors and visitors this year in the Shaikh Hamdan Mosque parking lot in Garhoud located near the Airport Expo. There will be a continuous free shuttle service between the car park and the Airport Expo from 9AM to 12 midnight as well as shuttle buses from select city points.
