Qatar Business Women Award holds two final clinics as application deadline of 20th October approaches

The Qatar Business Women Award (QBWA) hosted the final two clinics on October 7th and 8th at the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Headquarters.

The aim of these one-on-one clinics was to provide the candidates applying for the Qatar Business Women Award with personalized attention, answer their enquiries and assist them with a final review of their applications before the submission deadline of October 20th. The clinics, were led by Mrs. Judith Barthon, Chief Assessor and General Manager of The Development Partnership of the UK, the international award management company leading the Qatar Business Women Award assessment and judging process.

Each candidate had a half-hour appointment in which she could receive personalized attention and advice from Mrs. Barthon to review her application and supporting documents for any omitted, but significant or necessary, details.

Mrs. Barthon said:
"The candidates are absolutely prepared to submit their final applications. The competition is tough, but we are delighted to have many qualified and professionally distinguished candidates applying for this award. The response and excitement we have seen as we introduced the QBWA has been tremendous."


The Qatar Business Women Award is being held under the auspices of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Misnad. It aims to identify and pay tribute to Qatari women who contribute to Qatar's society and economy through their outstanding professional and entrepreneurial achievements.

The award will focus on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their fields. The Qatar Business Women Award is being promoted and organized by a partnership comprising the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Qatari Business Women Forum and Qatar Shell.

The Qatar Business Women Award 2008 is open to Qatari women and will be awarded in two categories - Business Owners and Professionals. To qualify for the Business Owners category, the applicant must currently own a business located in Qatar, the business must have been in operation for a minimum of three years and the applicant must have primary responsibility for the current performance of her business. To qualify for the Professional category, the applicant may be employed in any professional sector in Qatar, where she must have worked for a minimum of three years.

An award ceremony announcing the 2008 QBWA winners will be held on December 4th at the Ritz Carlton Island and will be attended by the candidates and influential community leaders.
