NBAD wins ACN Arab Technology Awards

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, was awarded ACN Arab Technology Award for the Banking & Finance project implementation of the year while Mr. Srood Sherif, NBAD's Chief Information Officer won the CIO award of the year.
The ACN Arab Technology Award for the Banking & Finance project implementation of the year was given to NBAD for implementing a new Core Banking System "considering the sheer size, complexity and well balanced execution of the project" as the jury puts it. Other NBAD's projects praised were "SMS Money Transfer" and the AVAYA IP Telephony projects.
To win the Banking & Finance Sector Implementation of the Year, the institution should demonstrate that it has used IT to create step change within its organization and change the face of the products and services it offers its customers. Demonstrable benefits for completed projects are essential, best practices and innovation will be taken into account.
The CIO of the Year award is given to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) who can show that he has not only excelled in terms of technology but also delivered tangible business benefits to the organization for which they work.
"We are delighted that NBAD has been awarded ACN Arab Technology Awards for the Banking & Finance project implementation and CIO of the year" said Mr. Michael Tomalin, NBAD's Chief Executive.
"We consider these awards to be valuable recognition of NBAD's efforts to keep pace with advanced IT usage in the banking sector. In its pursuit to satisfy our esteemed customers, NBAD has also been a recipient of many other awards over the years" said Mr. Abdulla M. S. AbdulRaheem, Senior General Manager, Group Chief Operating Officer.

"NBAD has won numerous awards such as the CIO Award 2008, the Middle East Excellence Award 2008, the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2007, the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award, Dubai Quality Award, 'Best Bank in UAE' from Euromoney and Banker publications, 'Human Resources Development Award' from the Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies, the 'Middle East e-Banking Country Award', the 'Outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award, and excellence award for 'Best use of Technology' from Banker Middle East" he added.
"Since its inception in 1968, NBAD has been playing significant and leading roles in the economic and social development of the UAE, and winning prestigious awards like ACN Arab Technology Award encourages us even further to leave no stone unturned in meeting and surpassing the expectations of our valued customers" Mr. Sherif concluded.
The awards were judged by Mohammad Shah from Knowledge Economic City, Vineet Chhatwal from PA Consulting, Todd McGregor from Forrester Research and Mohammad Al Khatib, CIO of the Amman Stock Exchange and 2007 CIO of the Year.
