'Essential Oman' opens at Crowne Plaza Muscat

The Crowne Plaza Muscat Hotel, in partnership with the Al Madina Art Gallery and Raymond Weil, hosts the latest exhibition by the internationally-acclaimed artist Jayne Hodgson from October 21st to October 25th 2008.

The exhibition this year captures the essence and the spirit of Oman, both in its representations of the people as well as the countryside and architecture.

It features 35 paintings on display in the hotel's main lower lobby area.

Jayne, a self-taught artist whose unconventional finishing methods and tools have allowed her to cultivate a unique and highly recognizable style, said "my works, mainly on canvas, are influenced by the bright colors and traditional architecture of Oman and its wonderful people. It is an honour for me to showcase my works in Oman for the third time and I hope it will be a success, as it has been in previous years".

The Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Al Madina Art Gallery both seek to provide an exceptional, memorable experience for both locals and visitors to Oman.

Art expositions are a key element of the Crowne Plaza Muscat's objective of becoming a veritable treat for art lovers. Mr. David Todd, the hotel's General Manager, said "Jayne is a tremendously talented artist; the artworks featured in this collection provide some stunning views and landscapes. We are very pleased to be able to bring Jayne's works to the Oman again this year, as her paintings are breathtaking in their visuality".

During the coming months, the Crowne Plaza Muscat will be hosting a series of exhibitions featuring accomplished artists; Miranda Dalessi and Karen van Hulten in November, Mairi Thomas in December, David Webber in January, Karen Carpenter in February, and Claudie Clinckemaillie in March.

Mr. Todd concluded: "Going by the response from local and international exhibitors, as well as enquiries made by art collectors, I am proud to say that the Crowne Plaza Muscat is well on its way to becoming an important meeting place where artists and art lovers can improve and share their love and knowledge of visual expression."
