Tunisair, which operates a fleet of 29 Boeing and Airbus aircraft, serving more than 52 destinations throughout the world, selected Mercator's RAPID after evaluating systems submitted by nine comparative providers.
Mohamed Smaoui, Director, Information Technology, Tunisair, said:
"There were significant business benefits for Tunisair in selecting Mercator's RAPID system. The major drivers were its ability to support Tunisair's future growth plans; revenue enhancement through accurate billing; reduced accounting costs and increased productivity. In addition, low initial investment, fast implementation times, hosting mode and immediate benefits of the solution made Mercator the natural choice."
Mercator already serves over 100 customers globally, including BA World Cargo, Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Air Tahiti, Varig and West Jet. With the addition of Tunisair, Mercator will now serve airlines in all the Maghreb countries.
Duncan Alexander, Vice President, Mercator, said:
"With the current challenges of high fuel prices and cooling economies, the aviation industry has to be more cost-conscious and innovative than ever. Increasingly, airlines are asking Mercator to provide innovative, money-saving solutions to help them streamline other areas of their businesses. In the case of Tunisair, we were pleased to be able to assist by delivering to them a number of cost savings through the implementation of our hosted Rapid accounting services."
