Dubai 2003 General Coordinator meets with Chairman of the Board, AMF

Dubai 2003 General Coordinator Mr. Ibrahim Belselah has met with Dr Jassim Al-Mannai, Director General, Chairman of the Board, Arab Monetary Fund in Abu Dhabi to discuss plans for the Fund's participation in the 58th Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund to take place on 23 and 24 September 2003. The meeting was also attended by Mr Hazem El Beblawi, Advisor to the Fund.
He added, "It will be the first time that an Arab city is hosting this prestigious event. The eyes of the world will be on both the United Arab Emirates and the Arab World in September 2003 and it is an ideal opportunity for the region to benefit further from this meeting."
The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund were first held in Washington DC in 1946. They are hosted by an international city one year in three. Dubai and the UAE were selected because of its highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure, growing importance as a financial hub and its established position as an oasis of opportunity.
