Price drop spurs gold rush

  • United Arab Emirates: Saturday, October 25 - 2008 at 09:11

Thursday night and Friday afternoon had been busy times for jewellery sellers as buyers rushed to buy gold with prices plummetting to as low as Dhs80 for a gram of 22 carat gold, Gulf News has reported. The drop in prices had been attributed to a combination of lower oil prices, financial meltdown, profit-making and the upcoming Diwali festivities. Sales volume had been seen increasing by 400% on Thursday night.
