The involvement of the DBWC results from its continuous interest in events that highlight the Arab woman's role in the region. The forum was launched on Thursday, October 23, 2008.

It is expected that a number of critical and sensitive questions and issues will be raised during the event. Matters that will be discussed will include the following topics:

- Are Arab women making an impact in politics? Why do they seem unable to generate political power on their own?

- What is the future role of Arab women in public life, business, etc?

- Which is the ideal feminine model that could be promoted for women in the Middle East?

- Do Arab women generally enjoy equal educational opportunities?

- Are prevailing norms of beauty contributing to the liberation of Arab women or are they reducing their self-esteem?

- To what extent do Arab men still consider that a woman's achievements upset established traditional values?

The event is taking place with the participation of a number of Arab dignitaries, including First Ladies, Ministers, pioneers in the field of business, sociology experts, writers, artists, in addition to heads of leading organisations.
