The MOU comes in response to the common desire of the parties for cooperation and coordination in a manner that would assist EDIA achieving its objective of establishing and updating a generic register incorporating all UAE population.
Delighted with the signature of the MOU, Mr. Butti affirmed that
"Dubai Customs would provide full support to assist EIDA with carrying out its national mission in establishing and updating a generic register for UAE population. This would provide accurate statistics about UAE population structures as to help students, researchers and planners to lay down strategic plans for the country's economic and social needs over the upcoming period."
Underlining the importance of information in the era of information flow being experienced worldwide, Mr. Butti said that,
"those who have the information would be having in fact the wealth, authority and capability for sound scientific planning for future and next generations. Here comes the importance of providing overall statistical data on the country's population."
Mr. Butti stressed the leading social role of Dubai Customs, which has been seeking using all the resources available to fulfill the social obligations for realizing overall renaissance in the emirate of Dubai in particular and UAE in general pursuant to Dubai comprehensive strategy as versioned by HH sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Mr. Al Zarooni, Director General of EIDA was delighted with the signature of MOU and thanked Dubai Customs for its cooperation and support to complete establishing and updating a generic register incorporating UAE population serving its supreme interests.
Mr. Al Zarooni called upon all government organizations to follow Dubai Customs practice in cooperating with EIDA in completing its mission.
The recent census in UAE was conducted in 2005.
