Etisalat launches technologies for people with special needs

Etisalat also welcomed visitors from several special needs schools to its stand at the GulfComms Exhibition, which is taking place from October 19 to 24.

Etisalat highlighted a solution from Sakhr Software which enables blind and visually impaired people to access many Internet and PC-based documents or services using IBSAR, Sakhr Software's Text-to-Speech (TTS) software. IBSAR is a powerful software application that converts the text output of a PC into voice so that the blind users can "hear" what is on their screen. IBSAR is on display throughout Gitex technology week along with other technologies and services at Etisalat's stand in the Zabeel Hall.

Developed by Sakhr Software, a leader in Arabic language software solutions, IBSAR employs sophisticated techniques that convert text to speech. IBSAR also allows the direct conversion of text to an MP3 recording which can be played on any PC or portable audio device. This can allow access to emails on the move.

Etisalat supports people with special needs with its Freedom package, which is also on display at GITEX. Representatives from the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs and Minors Affairs and Sharjah City of Humanitarian Services are helping Etisalat demonstrate its many services for people with special needs.

"Freedom" provides a range of discounts, offers and benefits that include: free subscription /connection for listed services (50% for individuals and 30% for institutes) a flat Discount rate on monthly usage and rental amounts. In addition to this customers, remain eligible for the Etisalat loyalty program -"More" and 'Volume' discounts. Etisalat has also recently included "E-Vision" in the freedom program, which is offering discounts to people with special needs with a reduced pricing and free installation.
