German Deputy Consul General discusses student exchange and organization of German activities with Ajman University Vice President

Mr. Hans B. Sauerteig, the German Deputy Consul General in Dubai, visited Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST), where he was welcomed by Dr. Ahmed Ankit, Vice President for External Relations and Cultural Affairs, and Dr. Michael Schartz, AUST coordinator with European universities.

Matters under discussion were the teaching of German in the AUST Continuing Education Center, the hiring of academics from highly-regarded German universities, and training and student exchange.

Dr. Ankit praised the level of cooperation between AUST and German institutions, adding that a delegation of women from AUST will visit Munich University of Technology from October 31 to November 7. Dr Ankit stated that he considered the trip to be an opportunity for AUST College of Engineering students to enrich their experience and widen their knowledge; he added that the first stage of the cooperation program will include the College of Dentistry, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and College of Business Administration.

Mr. Sauerteig stated that the German government is supporting and funding the student exchange programs. He suggested that AUST organize a "German Week," which could be attended by representatives of German institutions in the UAE, including DAAD and GOETHE Institute. Dr. Schwartz commented that this would provide an opportunity for the multinational community of AUST to gain familiarity with different aspects of German culture including food, movies and lifestyle.
