Young Arab Leaders consider effects of global 'credit crunch'

Young Arab Leaders (YAL) Jordan Chapter has organized a seminar to be held on Saturday, October 25, to consider the effects of the global credit crunch, hosting Professor Nabil Zaki, Professor of Corporate Finance and Derivatives at New York University.

"Lessons from the Credit Crunch" to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, will be sponsored by United Arab Investors Corporation, Jordan's leading investment company.

"With key economic indicators around the world trembling amid recession fears, we believe there is an urgent need to consider the effects of the credit crunch and the risks of this international crisis by drawing on valuable and relevant lessons,"

Ala' Khalifeh, Chairman, YAL Jordan Chapter said.

"As an entrepreneur organization committed to bringing international best practices and triggering positive change in the region, we have invited Professor Nabil Zaki, a renowned international expert, to share with us his constructive insights, useful guidance, and effective tips to tackle this worldwide dilemma," Khalifeh added.

Attending the seminar will be members of YAL along with senior figures from the government, banking, investment and business community in Jordan. YAL Jordan Chapter committee includes Ala' Khalifeh (Chairman), Saad Mouasher, Haitham Dahleh, Usama Fayyad, Mustapha Tabbaa, Sharif AbuKhadra, Ahmad Attiga.

Mr. Zaki has been in the investment and banking industry for more than 25 years. During that period, he assumed senior positions in both Corporate Finance and Treasury with major Wall Street firms and international financial institutions in New York, Canada and the Middle East. He has held high profile management positions with Chase Manhattan Bank, Merrill Lynch, Prudential Securities and Tradition.

Currently, Nabil Zaki is an adjunct Professor of Corporate Finance and Derivatives at New York University as well as New York Institute of Finance. He lectures extensively on portfolio management, risk management, derivatives, and international capital markets for major Wall Street firms and financial institutions.

In his capacity as Senior Vice President - Financial/Commodity, Futures and Options with Chase Manhattan Bank in Canada and New York in early 1980s, Nabil has marketed and traded a wide gamut of derivative products, including financial futures and options, futures as well as commodities, particularly, crude oil and refined products to domestic and overseas oil corporations.

Also, Nabil W. Zaki is a regular commentator on CNN, CNBC and Al Jazeera in addition to his consulting agreements with a number of banks and financial institutions in the U.S.A, Asia, and Japan in the areas of asset/liability management, credit derivatives and restructuring as well as risk management.
