The MoU was signed by Mohammad Nasr Abdeen, CEO of UNB and Dr. Abdulla Al-Khanbashi, Vice Chancellor of UAE University. Several other senior officials from UNB and UAEU were also present at the signing ceremony.

The MoU is aimed at supporting the Emiratization process and at the same time, enhancing the curriculum at the University to ensure that its courses are designed to reflect the needs of UAE's banking industry, thereby increasing the talent pool of qualified UAE national graduates.

Under the terms of the MoU, UNB will offer academically qualified UAE national students with three types of sponsorship options; student sponsorship, a summer internship program and on-the-job training. The student sponsorship program will require the student to train at one of UNB's branches or departments for one day a week, for an agreed period of time. The summer internship program will provide paid training for students during their summer vacation. The sponsored students are also offered on-the-job training at the bank.

In addition, UNB will assist the professors at UAEU to design a course in Islamic banking and conventional banking, to ensure that the university's curriculum is in line with the requirements of the banking industry.

After the signing Dr. Abdulla Al-Khanbashi, Vice Chancellor of UAE University, said, "The MoU with UNB holds out great potential to boost the employment prospects of our graduates within the banking sector. We look forward to the substantial mutual benefits that this agreement will provide both UAEU and UNB."

Mohammad Nasr Abdeen, CEO of UNB, said:
"UAE University is one of UAE's oldest and most renowned centers of learning in the UAE. We are proud to partner with this institution to encourage National students from the University to undertake banking careers within UNB. This partnership with UAEU is in line with the stellar role that the bank has played over the years in contributing to the all round development of the nation."
