A world first, the pavilion will provide visitors to the Global Village exciting opportunities to participate and set new Guinness World Records in a variety of categories during each of the 102 days of the seasonal event.

Amongst other crowd pulling activities, the Guinness World Records Pavilion will feature the loudest scream, shout, clap, and whistle and will also organize daily competitions to judge the fastest time in sending a text message, and the fastest typist on a computer keyboard utilizing the nose. In all, participants will be able to set records in 14 different categories of activities.

Abdul Redha Ali Bin Redha, Global Village Project Director, said:
"We are proud to welcome the Guinness World Records Pavilion to Dubai for the first time ever. The pavilion will serve as the only such platform in the world where people can enter and attempt to break a world record, based on activities and contests.
"Showcasing the diversity of cultures and communities, much of the success of the unique Global Village concept is attributed to its participants who have consistently demonstrated their keenness to be a part of this high visibility initiative. We look forward to spotlighting Dubai as a place that boasts record-breaking concepts and where world records are set by the day."

Alistair Richards, Managing Director of Guinness World Records, added: "The Guinness World Records Pavilion has been many months in the making and we are looking forward to its successful launch at Global Village. As a world first for us, we are all excited to see what we hope will be many delighted guests of this innovative family entertainment venue and many new Guinness World Record holders created during the 102 days of the event. Dubai is already renowned for its record breaking achievements but this will take it to another level."

A large scale world record attempt will also be organized to celebrate the international day of Guinness World Records, where a horde of surprises will await visitors to the premier regional family entertainment venue this season.
The Global Village will raise its curtains on 12 November, 2008 for a new spectacular seasonal event that will run until 21 February, 2009.
In the 2007-08 season, Global Village registered a footfall of nearly 4.5 million through the participation of 30 pavilions, 120 kiosks and service areas, and 32 restaurants.

Validating the year on year success of Global Village, the residents of Dubai voted the family destination as the first runner-up for 'The Best Visitor's Attraction in Dubai' at The Best in Dubai Awards 2008 conducted by Time Out Dubai magazine, celebrating everything that people love about living in the city.
