Umniah furnishes children's playground at King Hussein Cancer Center

Umniah, the leading telecommunications provider and pioneer in pro-bono activities, recently acted on its strong sense of social responsibility by furnishing the children's playground at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).

Mr. Joseph Hanania, CEO of Umniah, accompanied by Mr. Mahmoud Sarhan CEO of the Centre on behalf of HRH Princess Dina Mired, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, officially inaugurated the playground on 25 October 2008. Umniah spearheaded this initiative as part of its strive to uplift the spirits of the children at the center. The playground is sure to boost the psychological morale of the Center's young cancer patients, by providing a slide, swing and tunnel structure where the children can leave behind the burden of their disease.

"We adopted this initiative because it holds a special significance to us at the company. Unlike other projects targeting young citizens, this one focuses on benefiting children that we, at Umniah, feel obliged to serve, namely young cancer patients. We, at the company, are given great satisfaction for being able to create a playing space for these young patients We are filled with a great sense of achievement for doing just that. We believe that we should do our part in raising their young sprits, and we are realizing this goal by creating an opportunity for them to spend their days at the KHCC within a joyous atmosphere. We believe that this is the least we can do to relieve their hardships,"
explained Mr. Hanania.

"On this occasion, I would like to thank Director General of the KHCF, HRH Princess Dina Mired for her commitment to making the Center one of the best comprehensive cancer centers in the Middle East and the world at large. We, at Umniah, hope to contribute to more of the Center's initiatives and its future plans," he added.

Umniah is a long-term supporter of KHCF, .effectively contributing to its strive to provide the best possible treatment for cancer patients of all ages. To this effect, our company has been diligently collecting donations from subscribers visiting our showrooms.

Mr. Sarhan on behalf of HRH Princess Dina Mired, thanked Mr. Hanania for the donation, saying:
"Undergoing cancer treatment can be exceedingly difficult for pediatric patients and their families. This playground offers a much-needed respite from the grueling treatment that our young patients must endure on a daily basis. With support from partners like Umniah, we can continue our battle with this treacherous disease and offer solid support to our patients along the way."

It is important to note that Umniah had also launched a children's playground at the Um Omar Park in Sweileh a playground at the 'Prince Hashem Park'. located within the Hashmi Al-Shamali area, and a third playground located at the Abu Baker Al-Siddiq Public Park within the Khreibet Al-Souk this year.
