TECOM Investments senior management converge in the Netherlands for benchmarking workshop on excellence

TECOM Investments, a member of Dubai Holding, explored current best practices and identified new ideas to power its future strategies at a benchmarking workshop on excellence in quality and management for some of its most senior staff in The Netherlands earlier this month.

Principal TECOM staff, including Dr Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director of Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City; Jamal Al Sharif, Executive Director, Dubai Studio City; Malek Sultan Al Malek, Executive Director, Dubai Internet City, and Ahmed Baghoum, Executive Director, Customer Operations were among those that attended the workshop.

While in The Netherlands, the group met with key officials from TNT and Phillips, winners of the European Foundation for Quality Management Awards (EFQM), to understand their globally acclaimed business practices for potential implementation across TECOM Investments and its entities.

Dr Amina Al Rustamini, CEO of TECOM Business Parks, said:
"Benchmarking workshops are crucial in formulating the knowledge-based plans necessary to accomplish our business performance objectives. Such initiatives will allow us to achieve enhanced business excellence to further boost our financial outcomes. It will also enable our company leaders to take well-informed decisions that serve as solid foundations for future progress."


The workshop was hosted by Mike Pupius, Director of Centre of Integral Excellence, Sheffield Hallum University, UK, and Khaled Khattab, Executive Director, Business Excellence.

Hussain Dawood, Executive Director of Quality Office, TECOM Investments, who also attended the workshop, said:
"This workshop enabled us to witness current best practices in leadership area, strategy development and team building - all important factors that will help drive TECOM's commitment to sustaining its position on the excellence trajectory, while seeking to rank among top tier global corporations. The benchmarking exercise also helped us gain global perspectives on meeting and exceeding the needs of markets and customer, which will greatly assist in our objective of developing a framework for continuous improvement and raising the bar on our people's effort towards excellence."


TECOM's proactive initiative comes close on the heels of its sterling performance at the Dubai Holding Excellence Awards 2008, winning three coveted recognitions in the categories of 'Best Health, Safety and Environment in Office Environment'; 'Best Policy and Strategy', and 'Best Entity - Gold'.
