Foreign trips for medical travel often rejected
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, October 29 - 2008 at 09:19
Eighty percent of patients in Abu Dhabi requesting to travel abroad for medical treatment are rejected by the emirate's health authority because they are not being routed through the proper channel, reported Gulf News. Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali, Director of Health Regulation at the Health Authority Abu Dhabi, said a request to be treated abroad must come through a hospital that is medically affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company. The case is then reviewed by a medical board at the HAAD patient care department, which consists of a team of seven doctors from various specialties and hospitals.
