The brand new Airbus A320 plane was flown directly from its manufacturing facility in Toulouse, France, in time for the airline's third anniversary on October 30th and was welcomed into Dubai by Jazeera Airways' Chairman and CEO Marwan Boodai, local officials and members of the local media.
Speaking from the aircraft at Dubai International Airport, Marwan Boodai, discussed the significance of its arrival.
He, said:
"This is a hugely exciting moment for us to welcome another addition to our airline. With thanks to the government of Dubai and their constant support, we are able to demonstrate our continued commitment to our hub in Dubai. This delivery also marks a considerable expansion in our fleet size in time to celebrate three highly successful years and will enable us to succeed in meeting our proposed growth targets: to increase the number of destinations that we fly to and to increase the frequency of our flights giving passengers even more freedom to fly from each of our hubs."
The aircraft has been fitted with state-of-the-art technology that enables passengers to use their mobile devices, blackberries and email on board while in the air, as part of the Jazeera Mobile service that will begin in 2009.
Jazeera Airways currently operates a fleet of seven new Airbus A320s from its two hubs in Kuwait and Dubai. Each aircraft is fitted with the airline's signature leather seating, while the Jazeera Plus (J+) cabin offers business travellers the highest standards of comfort, relaxation and a range of in flight amenities. The airline flies to destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Iran, and the Indian subcontinent.
