KIA Motors-Jordan sponsors the Environmental Media Award

In line with its efforts to protect the environment, the National Arab Company-KIA Jordan announced the sponsorship of the Jordan Environmental Media Award, in cooperation with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature.

The Award, which was launched under the patronage of HRH Princess Reem Ali on October 15, 2008, seeks to recognize excellence in environmental reporting. Jordanian print and on-line journalists, as well as journalism students from Jordanian universities, are eligible to compete for the Award.

Nihad Zacharia, General Manager of the National Arab Motors commented on KIA Jordan participation by saying:
"KIA-Jordan's support to this initiative is to contribute in the efforts to raise awareness on the importance of the environment among societies, and this initiative meets our goal to support local communities through a variety of activities."


This Award comes in line with efforts by National Arab Motors-KIA Jordan and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature to raise public awareness on global and local environmental issues, recognizing the pivotal role played by the media in educating and informing the public on such important matters.

The National Arab Motors-KIA Jordan will give the winner the chance to visit KIA's Research & Development Center and view the latest technologies in car manufacturing. In addition, the first prize winner will see KIA's new hybrid vehicles, fuel cell technology and meet with the company's experts. Special reports and articles will be produced on the visit.

Eligible articles should be either in Arabic or in English, should tackle a significant local environmental topic and should be published between December 1st 2007 and March 1st 2009 in any local newspaper or magazine. Unpublished works completed during this period are also eligible.

The jury is chaired by HRH Princess Reem Ali, and it includes Her Excellency Senator Laila Sharaf, His Excellency Dr. Nabil Al Sharif, Dr. Mohammad Masalha, and Dr. Tayseer Abu Arjah.
