The awards, which were announced at a ceremony held at the Park Hyatt Dubai Creek Golf Club on the 20th of October 2008, are designed to celebrate excellence in the Small and Medium Enterprises sector. It is the first and only media led SME Awards initiative in the UAE and recognizes the best SME business leaders in the region across seven key categories.

Emirates NBD sponsored the Fastest Growing SME in the GCC category, which was awarded to National Occupational Safety & Health Centre (Osho Centre) for 'exhibiting unique services, professional work, consistent growth, as well as potential to expand, and determination to achieve' in the view of the judges.

Mr. Suvo Sarkar, General Manager of Retail Banking at Emirates NBD, said:
"Emirates NBD has a long-standing relationship with the SME sector in the region, and we have always made special efforts to support their growth through our tailor-made products and award sponsorships."

"We firmly believe that awards such as these are the perfect encouragement that an SME needs to move up to the next level, and we are very happy to lend our name to this cause," he added.
