Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (Huawei), a specialist in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, reiterated its commitment to helping operators around the world move seamlessly to converged ultra broadband with the introduction of several industry-first products and extending its IPTIME (IP Transport Infrastructure for Multi-play Experience) solution at Broadband World Forum Europe in Brussels.

The new 1.28T OTN OptiX OSN 8800, OptiX OSN 1800 and 10G GPON prototype restate Huawei's leadership position in the ALL IP broadband field and are also part of Huawei's Green Ultra Broadband Networks solutions for operators, that reduce power consumption and increase energy efficiency.

Graham Finnie, Heavy Reading's chief analyst, pointed out:
"The advent of the Broadband 2.0 era makes it possible for subscribers to enjoy innovative broadband services featuring abundant bandwidth, convenient, appropriate, and ubiquitous access, and high security networks."

"One of the bigger challenges that operators face today is to build converged ultra-broadband bearer networks that can give them the flexibility to quickly deploy a full range of services and at the same time significantly reduce the TCO (total cost of operation) of their entire networks," said Daniel Tang, vice president of Huawei Network Product Line. "Huawei's new products and IPTIME solution will help operators to better deploy a full service offering and enable subscribers to better experience the excitement and an extended choice of multi-play services."

As the first 1.28T OSN next-generation switched WDM system in the industry, the OptiX OSN 8800 integrates 40G/100G, ROADM, OTN Switch, ASON/GMPLS to provide high bandwidth transport and grooming, thus meet the requirements of operators as they prepare backbone networks for full service evolution.

The OptiX OSN 1800 system supports full service access from 2M to 10G, simplifying and unifying the multiple carrier edge networks in order to effectively reduce TCO.

Huawei's 10G GPON is the world's first standard 10G GPON system compliant with FSAN NGA and has a data rate of 10Gbps downstream and 2.5Gbps upstream. It coexists with current GPON and is compatible with current 2.5G optical distribution networks and platforms. The 10G GPON realizes smooth migration from current GPON and fully guarantees investment made in legacy networks through providing four times the bandwidth.

Additionally, Huawei has also extended its IPTIME solutions from mobile transport solutions to the industry's first FMC-oriented unified bearer solutions. Huawei's IPTIME solutions now provide access to both ultra broadband and 2G/3G, and support the clock synchronization of transmission, thus enabling the end-to-end provision of mobile and broadband services. With the solutions, fixed operators can deploy mobile bearer services on their existing broadband access networks, thus implementing their full-service operations more quickly and reducing their operating costs.
