Emarat enters a joint venture with BP and Trafigura

As part of its ongoing commitment to grow and expand its operations and services, Emarat has entered a joint venture with BP and Trafigura to set-up an exclusive terminal to blend, store and distribute high quality unleaded gasoline.
Mr. Rashid Al Shamsi, General Manager of Emarat said, " In the present scenario of rapidly growing economies and environmental consciousness becoming the byword, provision of unleaded gasoline will be key contributor towards a cleaner and better environment."
"This is a very exciting project for us and it marks another landmark event in the achievements recorded by the Corporation over the years. This investment is in line with the company's corporate policy of constantly expanding ongoing services and forging new partnerships to pioneer new developments." he added.
This venture is committed to maintaining quality, safety and operating reliability to the highest standards. The terminal has been designed incorporating state-of-the art equipment, using latest technology and high level of automation to ensure operational efficiency. All facilities and equipment meet environmental and safety regulations and will be manned by experienced personnel.
Mr. Tony Harpur, Manager for Middle East and India of BP's Integrated Supply and Trading (IST) division said, "BP is delighted to continue our long and successful relationships with Emarat through this exciting new venture. Building and operating this facility with Emarat and Trafigura fits perfectly with our aspirations to develop BP's supply and trading activities across the region, as well as opening up further potential growth areas."
The unit will encompass under one roof, facilities for blending, storage and distribution of high quality unleaded gasoline. It will be connected by pipeline to petroleum product producers and storage terminals located in the surrounding areas and will serve as a key distribution centre.
Mr. Graham Sharp, Director, Trafigura Ltd, said " Trafigura is very pleased to be associated with Emarat and BP for this project, our first investment in the Arab Gulf region. We believe this facility will open up new opportunities for our group in one of the fastest growing petroleum markets in the world and will complement our investment and gasoline blending activities around the world."
