Al Bustan Rotana's Head Kitchen Artist wins gold medals in 2008 IKA Culinary Olympics

Al Bustan Rotana Dubai's Head Kitchen Artist, Mark Ranasinghes, recently brought home honor and pride to the hotel and to the UAE after winning two gold medals in two categories he participated in at the IKA Culinary Olympics held in Erfurt, Germany.

The IKA Culinary Olympics is a highly prestigious gathering of the best chefs and kitchen artists from over fifty countries to compete in various categories. Held every four years, it is considered to be the 'Olympics'' of individual chefs, kitchen artists and culinary teams.

Mark showcased his extraordinary talents when he represented Al Bustan Rotana in the Sugar Pastry Showpiece and Salt Dough Cold Showpiece categories and won the gold medals for both, emerging triumphant among two hundred (200) other kitchen artists for each category.

He commented:

'All the other contestants were extremely talented and I really felt honored I won. It just proves that the kitchen artists of the Al Bustan Rotana are among the best in the world. This will not be possible without the support of the management as well as of Chocolate Island who assisted me in this competition and I am so grateful for this opportunity. The training in the hotel and in the UAE in general is of excellent quality and we should all be proud of the culinary talents we have in this country.'
