Organised by private sector representatives, the 600 square metre pavilion will house 34 stalls selling a range of handicrafts, clothing, footwear and foodstuff. Six of the stalls will promote Libyan books and literature and will be managed by the Libyan Embassy in the UAE.
'Libya has a rich heritage and the Global Village gives us the chance to introduce it to an international audience.'
Libya is one of 31 countries represented by special pavilions which have been constructed at Global Village - the largest ever number of pavilions in the annual event. Libya pavilion organisers are also hoping to have a restaurant selling Libyan fare in the main food and beverage area of Global Village.
'UAE residents and overseas visitors alike are constantly looking to explore new horizons and the addition of Libya to the Global Village helps us fulfill that requirement,' said Alan Gordon, General Manager, Global Village. 'Libya is one of seven new pavilions at the Global Village - the other six represent Cyprus, Singapore, Indonesia, Turkey, Kenya and Afghanistan.'
The Global Village is once again being hosted by Dubai Festival City, a key sponsor of the Dubai Shopping Festival. The Dubai Festival City development is the signature 'city-within-a-city' project being developed on the banks of the Dubai Creek by the Al-Futtaim Group.

Global Village, the international attraction of the Dubai Shopping Festival, will host its first Libyan pavilion when it opens its gates on January 15th this year.
