'Abu Dhabi ... Talks and Sensations' among activities of Artparis-Abu Dhabi exhibition 2008

Abu Dhabi will host a special event as part of its art exhibition Artparis-Abu Dhabi, which is held on 17-21 November 2008 at the Emirates Palace, sponsored by Sheikh Mohammed Zayed bin Zayed al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) and Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC).

The special event, entitled 'Abu Dhabi ... Talks and Sensations' and will be launched on the second day of the exhibition, is devoted to creativity and contemporary ideas, where its theme this year will be "The Place of Beauty in the Arab World".

Fabrice Bousteau, the organiser of the exhibition, said:
'Abu Dhabi ... Talks and Sensations' is a "performance seminar of two chapters and sixteen scenes of elite discussions, artistic performances, video presentations, poetry recital, and DJ parties," among other things."


A number of artists will be presenting their works, including names like Adel Abidin, Youssef Nabil.

The artist Qader Atlla will be participating with the production of a video on the visit of Sarnath Banerjee, the Indian graphic novelist in the Department of Islamic Arts at the British Museum, to the cartoon photographs exhibition on science fiction in Abu Dhabi 2028.

Other two artist, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige, will be commenting on a special presentation of excerpts from the movie "Je veux voir" (I want to see) 2008, with Catherine Deneuve.

The worldwide renowned philosopher Peter Sloterdijk will develop a reflection about the "culture of isolation".

The event will attempt to give an introduction to many issues pertaining to contemporary Arab art, by acclaimed voices such as Ferestheh Daftari, assistant curator at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA); Alka Pande, the Indian art critic; and Martina Corgnati, the Italian art critic.

Senior representatives of the art market, such as Isabelle de La Bruyère (Director at Christie's Middle East) will host a round table on "the boom of contemporary Arab art."

The performance symposium will involve the performance of live music by the sound producer Michael Gaubert, the top name in music for fashion shows.
