- Kuwait: Sunday, November 02 - 2008 at 15:43
- PRESS RELEASE
The Workshop on Export Intelligence and Promotion was launched in the Palms Hotel, State of Kuwait.
Lasting until November 6, the workshop introduces the basic principles and best practices of exports and serves as a guide on procedures and documentation required for a complete export process; and it targets stakeholders from and related to Small, Medium and Handcraft Industries.
In the speech delivered in the workshop launching by H.E. Bani Al Hajri, Deputy Director General in the Public Authority for Industry in the State of Kuwait, on behalf of H.E. Dr. Ali Fahad AL Mudhaf, Director General of PAI, he stressed the keenness of PAI to hold seminars, conferences and specialized industrial programs as part of its efforts in developing the industrial sector in the State of Kuwait. H.E. also stressed the importance of the workshop in introducing basic principles of export, and highlighting best practices related to identifying export markets and product pricing, payment methods and other related concepts.
Finally, Mr. Al Hajri commended GOIC's efforts in the support of industrial development in the GCC region.
Around 20 participants representing a number of public and private sectors entities in GCC member states attended the workshop including representatives from the Public Authority for Industry in the State of Kuwait, Omani Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Omani Center for Investment Promotion & Export Development (OCIPED) in the Sultanate of Oman, Dubai Export Development Corporation from Dubai Government, Ministry of Economy in UAE, and Rowad National Plastic Co. Ltd. - part of National Industrialization Company (TASNEE) KSA, further to participants from GOIC and other individuals.
It is worth highlighting that this five-day intensive training workshop is intended to train participants on export and its procedures and certificates, also to facilitate networking, spread awareness and link up export practitioners from the public and private industries with service providers and policy makers in order to increase the synergies for greater growth of exports from GCC.
In its turn, the workshop training agenda covers five key modules: Basics of Intelligent Export Management: The Foundation of the Profitable Export Business; Export Markets: International Market Intelligence; Pricing Products and Budgeting for Export-Related Costs; Getting Paid; and finally Export Business Plan .
It is good to mention in this context that GCC member states have a long tradition of exporting great industrial quantities to the world.
However, these exports are mainly delivered by major industrial stakeholders and/or by the governments themselves and the experience remains preserved in-house in the large corporations.
GOIC, founded in 1976, targets developing industries throughout GCC by means of providing, both the industrial and economic sectors, with distinctive knowledge, consultancy and technical services. GOIC's mandate is to promote the highest levels of industrial cooperation and collaboration, in both the public and private sectors, by providing a complete set of high-quality, specialized research, information and consultancy services in industrial and economic fields.
