Zain renews its partnership with the Applied Science University

Zain, the leading mobile operator in the Middle East and Africa, renewed, last week, the partnership agreement with the Applied Science University.
The agreement has been signed by Zain's General Manager Dr. Ahmed Al-Shatti, and by the Applied Science University Deputy Head of Board Directors Dr. Haitham Abu Khadeejeh.
Said agreement consolidates the partnership between Zain and the Applied Science University. It also stems from the company's belief in supporting the education sector and releasing initiatives that touches all Universities across the Kingdom.
Dr. Al- Shatti said that Zain is committed to supporting the education sector whether through direct initiatives to support the education process or through offering services and virtues to serve this main sector in the Kingdom. "The company views the role of universities to be essential in providing youth who represent the majority of Jordanians, with the necessary skills and education" Said Al Shatti.
Al Shatti also stressed on the importance of the cooperation between the private sector and the education sector in the Kingdom in addition to the continuous effort to serve the developmental process of the local community.
Last February Zain has signed an agreement with the Applied Science University by which the company will provide direct access of internet services (ADSL) to retrieve data with a speed of 8M per second, serving around 8000 students and the entire academic body.
Dr. Abu Khadeejeh said that the university appreciates Zain's initiative and is proud of the strong partnership with the company as it is the first company to provide internet services for the university. Said initiative contributed to improving the academic work and the administrative cadres' performance.
It is worth mentioning that Zain offers many other institutional related initiatives concerning development of the education sector including is the Zain Education Fund by which the company grants 42 academic scholarships for unprivileged excellent students . Zain also established a telecommunications labs at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), in addition to establishing an artistic monument as Al Yarmouk University on campus. Zain also launched the Edulink program at various universities including the Jordan University, the Applied Science university, Mu'ata university, and the Hashemite University which connects the students to the university's information base through their handsets.
Moreover, the company launched a number of Digital community Centers in Al Ba'a camp, Al Wihdat, and Al-Karak. Said centers aim to develop human resources throughout enhancing their skills and utilizing telecommunication and information technology.
