Speaking at the MMS press conference Mr. Abdullah Abulhoul, CEO of Domus Group said:
"The communications industry in Dubai and the UAE at large is serving as a model for the rest of the region. The Media and Marketing Show is an initiative in the direction of providing a boost to this particular sector, as well as providing a forum for communication professionals from across the region."
He added: "This year in particular we have a very impressive line-up of conferences and workshops that will undoubtedly be of great significance and help to attending media professionals."
Ellen Sandler, the Emmy-nominated Co-Executive Producer and writer of Everybody Loves Raymond announced that she will be conducting a workshop titled 'Everybody Loves Sitcoms' presented by Hollywood in Dubai, which will teach the participants the necessary skills required to produce, sell, and market sitcoms to television networks and studios.
"I believe this is a major step for any production student who wants to break in to the professional, Hollywood-standard sitcom industry. This is the first time that such a workshop is conducted in the UAE and I'm very happy with the response we have seen so far."
The two-day workshop will be held on the second and third day of the show (November 4 and 5)
Hollywood in Dubai will also give the visitors of the show a chance to win the original script of the famous series "Friends" in a raffle draw that will take place on November 5th upon dropping their business cards at the registration.
With over 200 exhibitors from 55 countries and representing 600 regional brands, the Media and Marketing Show 2008 will offer visitors a unique and once-in-a-year perspective of the incredible range and diversity in the region's media spectrum.
Among the new elements of the show is the MMS Internal Conference, which will be taking place on the second and third day of the show.
The main topics to be discussed in the conference will be Online Advertising presented by Google and Ayna, the flow of information between freedom and governing rules by Al Manar TV, and the introduction of International Media in the regional market by Sunday Times.
Ipsos MENA and Applied Digital Media Services will both be offering a series of workshops on media research methodologies and opportunities, and Apple and Adobe software respectively.
Also, ITP will be running the Arabian Business Media and Marketing Conference 2008 on the first day of the show, featuring 6 of the region's leading media personalities talk about marketing communications, and journalism in the region.
MMS 2008 will be held at Halls 2, 3 and 4 in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre 10:00AM to 7:00PM from November 3 - 5, 2008.
