GII Chairman Mr Qassim Fakhroo announced:

GII has been established as leading centre of excellence which provides learning, and sustainable career development and rewards achievements for professionals engaged in conventional and Islamic Insurance practices and risk management, as well as for those starting in career in this rapidly expanding sector. The Institute will serve as a regional hub for conventional insurance and Islamic insurance (Takaful) learning; as well as ancillary financial services and management studies.
GII promotes learning through the development of region-specific training materials and accredited certificate programs—including Arabic and Takaful course materials.
At the inauguration, GII will be launching and demonstrating its unique E-learning system which will be used as an important resource for distance learning.
GII has been established as a leading centre of professional training and development and was established by industry leaders to develop the insurance and risk management sector. The founding shareholders are Oman Insurance Co PSC—Dubai, Bahrain National Insurance Co—Bahrain, Al Ahliea Insurance Co — Kuwait, Al Khaleej Insurance Co — Qatar, Oman National Insurance Holding—Oman, Nasco Karaoglan—France, and Shiekan Insurance & Reinsurance Co. - Sudan.
GII has been licensed as a Management and Business Training Institute by the Ministry of Labour, Directorate of Training Institutes Affairs, Bahrain, and provides the highest levels of quality assurance and strong governance under the guidance of its Executive Committee, Quality and Standards Council and Disciplinary Council. Members of these Councils are recognized leading academics and executives from industry, ensuring quality standards and promotion of the GII Code of Professional Conduct.
The Institute currently comprises two faculties: the Insurance Academy and the Management and Marketing Academy. GII works in cooperation with international qualifying bodies to offer professional qualifications which are internationally benchmarked and regionally specific. Current partners include the Securities & Investment Institute (UK), Chartered Insurance Institute, Securities and Investment Institute and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UK) and the American Insurance Institute (AICPCU) and Society of Actuaries (USA).
