Oman hosts 11th GCC Aircraft Refueling Forum

Muscat is hosting the 11th GCC Aircraft Refueling Forum which will conclude today at Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa where more than 50 specialized representatives from major aviation fuel suppliers across the GCC are meeting to address key technical issues and methods of improving safety and technical standards.

Established by Arabian Fuels Technology Center and the leading Into-Plane Refueling Companies in the GCC Region, the Forum is organized by the Arabian Fuels Center and Co-Hosted jointly by Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) and Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company and featuring a number of leading industry experts from Germany, USA, United Kingdom, Italy and the Middle East.

Saif Al Jasri, omanoil General Manager of Aviation & Marine Fuels, said:
"A key objective is to explore synergies within this industry group which is steering the GCC sector into the world-class operation needed to support the region's expanding and sophisticated civil aviation base."


Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company Senior Manager of Aviation Business, Hafidh Al-Hadeed added, "An important benefit for Al Maha and omanoil is the opportunity to demonstrate the companies' pioneering activities in this sector, not only in the Sultanate but also in other GCC countries in the future."

Ubaidallah Al Ghamdi, President of the Arabian Fuels Technology Center, said, "This GCC Forum is the main event in the Region and is the result of a joint effort between the Leading Into-Plane Refueling Companies. Since its inception and establishment in 1998, the forum is held annually in different GCC countries to address key safety and technical issues to enhance the air fueling operations to a world class level, bringing the latest development in the Industry through a series of presentations during the two-day forum period."

The Forum covers topics that include Air fueling Operations Infra-Structure, Filtration System Technology, Integrity Bonding System, and Technical Overview for Refueling Vehicles in addition to International Specifications and Requirements for the Industry.

As one of the leading fuels and lubricants marketing Companies in the Sultanate, omanoil Aviation is the specialized Aviation Division of Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) and markets aviation fuels (Jet A-1 and AvGas 100 LL) and International Aviation Quality Lubricants. With the strong economic growth in the region coupled with the rapid expansion of the national airline "Oman Air", there is fast increase in air traffic movements which is also supported by the increase impetus by the government towards developing a robust national tourism industry.

One of the Key activities of the Arabian Fuels Technology Center is the provision of the ASTM International Petroleum Products Professional Training Programs through the Partnership Agreement between the AFTC and the ASTM International D02 Petroleum Products & Lubricants Committees, which was established in the year 1904. The ASTM Courses have been conducted in the GCC/Middle East Region, by AFTC, since the year 2003 with attendance from all the Key Oil Industry Companies in the Region.

Al-Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company SAOG was established by virtue of a Royal Decree issued by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said in 1993.
